I support my president in most matters, but serving in Congress means disagreeing where you must in order to comply with your own values and those of your constituents. We have a lot of work to do at home to rebuild our education system, finance Social Security and health care and put people back to work.

O’Leary has been a vocal and tireless advocate for education, the environment, our beleaguered fishing industry and economic opportunity. He is credited with rewriting legislation that in the end not only sought to boost state support for life science businesses but also marine science such as the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. State funding allowed the renowned research center to pursue private funding for its work and the result was a multi-million dollar grant from the Howard Hughes Foundation that created jobs and research opportunities.
